According to Saudi Yoga Committee President Nouf Al – Marwaai, Saudi Arabia will join a 100-day countdown campaign. Saudi Arabs will participate with 100 other countries to mark the 8th International Day of Yoga.
Furthermore, Al – Marwaai announced the launch of an 81-day yoga awareness program in the Kingdom to commemorate the campaign — also known as Yoga Mahotsav — of the International Day of Yoga 2022 (IDY). Also, The virtual launch of the campaign took place on April 1. It took place just in time for International Yoga Day on June 21. Indeed, UN Resolution 69/131 formally recognizes IDY for its health benefits. The goal of the international event is to raise awareness about Yoga and its health benefits. This year’s theme for IDY is “Health, Well-Being, and World Peace.”
Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) hosted the event, Part of India’s Ministry of AYUSH. And it is dedicated to Ayurveda, Naturopathy, yoga, and homeopathy research, Development, Unani, Siddha, And education. According to MDNIY Director Dr. Ishwar Basavaraddi, This year’s campaign will span 100 days, 100 organizations, And 100 cities in the run-up to IDY. Also, “Yoga demonstrations, Seminars, And workshops will be part of the campaign’s program in India and around the world,” He said.

Strengthening the Saudi Yoga Community
The Kingdom’s participation in IDY, according to Shahad, is empowering for the Saudi yoga community. Undoubtedly, it can raise awareness and demonstrate the benefits of practicing Yoga. Further, on International Yoga Day last year, the Kingdom and India signed a memorandum of understanding to encourage yoga education. Saudi Ministry of Sport and India’s Ministry of AYUSH signed the agreement to activate and organize Yoga in the Kingdom. It allows the Saudi yoga community to participate in the IDY 2022 campaign.
